Better Than CNN / News Archives / The Weekly Wrap-up: I have an opinion
11/19/2002

This weeks edition of the weekly wrap-up is entitled, "I have an opinion." There are three issues on the ticker. 1. Saddam Hussein. 2. Women at Agusta National Golf Course 3. Gold Glove Awards. These, yes, may be uninteresting issues (except for the Gold Gloves of course), but, since there was no news this week to write about, they are the issues that I have an opinion on.

Issue number 1. "Saddam Insane?" As you may or may not know, the U.N. has asked Iraq to allow them to inspect Iraq's weapons. The United States and Briton have made it clear that they will attack if Iraq does not allow the inspection. At least that's what I understand. Yet Saddam still was still reluctant in letting weapons inspectors search their weapons. This means, Saddam is asking for an attack from a European Country (yes, not so scary) but also us. The U.S. A superpower. Saddam Hussein, more like So Damn Insane.

Issue number 2. "Women at Agusta." As you may or may not know, for months now women's organizations have been pushing for female membership at Agusta National Golf Course. A golf course that has been all male since before the sun warmed the Earth. Don't these women understand that it's not a matter of equal rights. It's a matter of principle, history, common sense. This is almost on the same grounds as women asking for membership to the boys locker room.

Issue number 3. "The Gold Glove Hoax." This past week, the MLB handed out Gold Glove Awards to fielders that had been outstanding in the field this past season. Now, if you're not from Minnesota, or you're not a fan of the Twins or common sense, you may want to stop reading now. As for the rest of you, this is the issue that I feel the most strongly about. Scoop Doug Mienkiewicz was robbed of his second Gold Glove. If any of you have seen Scoop play this year, you could plainly see that he is the best defensive first basemen to ever play. Period. He should have been honored. This is making me to angry to write about, so I'll stop now.

I hope you enjoyed reading my opinions of this past weeks scarce news stories. If you want something more interesting to read next week, do something about it. Write to your congressmen, tell him to have an affair. Rob a bank. Or commit some kind of fraud. Something to make this column easier to write. Thank you, The End.

The suggestions in the last paragraph are not meant to be taking seriously by anyone. Hopefully those things will happen on their own...
